Allison Wilke Gryphon was a filmmaker, a writer, a daughter, a much-loved friend and a cancer survivor. But at age forty-four the cancer came back, and within months she was gone, leaving her friends and family lost and searching for meaning. Allison’s last wish was to have for her ashes scattered at the place where she found her creative spirit, the place she thought of as home, Ireland’s Cliffs of Moher. In preparing for the journey, her friends discovered a treasure trove of footage that Allison had shot, including a diary cam where she spoke of the healing powers of St. Brigid’s Well in Ireland. In her words, her friends found meaning, this was the place they needed to go to find their way through their grief. This film tells the story of Allison and the life she lived through her own footage, while simultaneously telling the story of healing as her friends take her home.

SHEL brings together sisters Eva, Hannah, Sara and Liza Holbrook to create magic on the violin, mandolin, piano and drums. Their song, "Send My Kiss" is featured in A Hidden Star's teaser and beautifully captures the film's emotion. When the filmmakers heard this song, they knew it was essential for their film, but more importantly they knew this music was what they needed to hear at the Cliffs of Moher when saying goodbye to their friend.
